This session explores how exhibit design and interpretation can create connection between people and wildlife. Presenters will share how their institutions are using storytelling, immersive environments, and behind-the-scenes visibility to foster empathy—helping visitors connect with the individuality and needs of the animals in their care. From designing a new red panda habitat to opening a window into bear husbandry, these projects demonstrate how empathy can be woven into zoo infrastructure.
