Woodland Park Zoo

Using simple empathy practices during conversations with guests can support how we teach about species and natural history. In this video, we’ll take a look at how a keeper at Woodland Park Zoo approached using empathy practices during a guest encounter outside of the hooded vulture habitat. These tools aim to inspire guests to act in more informed and caring ways towards animals at our organizations and in nature. While this video takes place in a zoo setting, its lessons can apply across many places where animal care and conservation professionals engage the public.

This resource also includes a document that provides practical guidance and elements to consider when developing a similar video resource for those who wish to create their own similar version.
