This session explores innovative strategies for fostering empathy in school groups, interns, and young learners through educational programs and interpretive experiences. Hannah Jones (Graphics and Video Production Specialist) and Quinn Brownell (Interpretive Programs Coordinator, CIG), and Laurel Shanks (Interpretive Programs Evaluator) from the International Crane Foundation will share insights from Learning to Fly and Banding Together to Save Cranes, which use curriculum guides and hands-on opportunities to engage students and interns. (3:10-36:11). Liz Hines, Community Engagement Coordinator at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, will present Wildlife Champions: Collaboratively Growing Empathy in Students for Nature, a program that nurtures empathy in underserved students through long-term school district partnerships. (36:11-1:01:19).
